Our Story

It started with a small, specific frustration.

I was living somewhere far from home, dressed in a traditional piece from my homeland from Northeast India and I couldn't find a single bag that belonged with it. Everything around me was mass-made, generic,  cut from the same handful of templates. Nothing carried the weight, the color, the story of where I came from.

So I decided to make it myself.

That's how ARÖ began not as a business plan, but as a search for something that didn't exist yet: accessories that could stand beside handwoven tradition instead of apart from it.

What we make

Every ARÖ piece starts on a loom, not a factory floor. We work with  Eri silk, Chakma's phinon hadi weaves , Mizo's puan weaves , Naga-stripe weaves  textiles etc that carry centuries of craft from the Northeast, each with its own texture, sheen, and story. A single piece can take up to 15-25 days to weave, thread by thread, by hands that have done this work for generations.

We don't restock. When a piece is gone, it's gone because that's what it means to make something by hand instead of by machine.

Why it matters

If you're here, you're probably tired of the same thing we were tired of: things that are made fast, sold cheap, and forgotten quickly. ARÖ is for people who'd rather own one piece with a real story than ten with none.

Behind every bag is a weaver whose name we know, a village we've visited, a craft we're trying to protect rather than replace. When you carry ARÖ, you're carrying that not just an accessory, but a piece of the Northeast, made the way it's always been made.
